What is a face shield?

A face shield is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE) that is designed to protect the wearer’s face from splashes, sprays, and droplets. It is a transparent or translucent visor that covers the entire face, including the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Face shields are typically made of polycarbonate or other transparent plastics that provide good visibility and are resistant to impact and scratches. The shield is usually held in place by an adjustable headband that can be worn over a hat or other head covering.

Unlike masks, face shields do not provide respiratory protection against airborne particles, but they do provide an additional layer of protection for the wearer’s face and can be used in conjunction with masks for added protection.
